Important functions carried out by MPDD are as under:

 

• Planning of SLMs requirement.
• Maintenance of inventory of study materials and other related items.
• Distribution of study materials to the students.
• Distribution of study materials to Regional Centres of IGNOU.
• Sale of study materials to the Open University, other Institutions, agents and general public.
• Meeting the SLM printing requirements and special printing jobs like Convocation, Prof. G. Ram Reddy Memorial Lecture, Annual Reports etc. are also responsibility of MPDD. 
• Execution of complete reprinting work of IGNOU and Printing work of Schools of studies.
• The Division comprises of seven Units namely, A&F Unit, Computer Unit, Printing Unit, Student Support Cell, Marketing Cell, Prospectus Uni and Stores.
• Tender for Empanelment of Offset Printer for Printing of Study Materials with Text and Cover Paper across India through CPP Portal.
• Tender for Laser Typesetter and Graphic Designers through CPP Portal.
• Procurement of P-I, P-II and P-III envelopes through GeM.
